Pacaya volcano

If you like adventures and amazing views this is definitely a must-do while you are in Guatemala.

Pacaya is an active volcano located in San Vicente Pacaya in the department of Escuintla; it is one of the most recommended volcanoes for its easy ascent and beautiful view with a height of 2552 masl. Nowadays, it is no longer possible to climb towards the crater, Instead, you walk up until a certain point called “La meseta” from where you will get an awesome view of recent lava flows, this trek can be done in half a day. You will also get to toast some marshmallows on the recently cooled lava, and if you want a souvenir to remember your visit, do not forget to stop by the Lava Store located at the end of the hike where you can purchase jewelry and crafts made from molten lava rocks. the best time of the year for undertaking the hike of the Volcan de Pacaya, would be November, or the beginning of the dry season in Guatemala, this to make sure you will get an awesome experience and unbelievable views.
